Surgery Hours

We are open for the collection of flea and worm products and the collection of medicines 8.30am – 6.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am – 12noon on Saturday.

Our surgeries are “open”. You do not need an appointment for surgery hours:

Opening hours

Monday to Friday:

9am – 10.30am

2pm – 3pm

5pm – 6.30pm

Saturday: 9am – 12noon

If you have a cat that is difficult to catch and you suddenly manage to catch him/her and it is surgery hours you can come straight to the surgery and we will see your cat. If you are stuck in traffic on the way to us it will not affect us seeing other people. We can see someone else and then see you when you arrive.

Not taking 30 phone calls a day to make appointments also reduces the staff we need to employ to take telephone calls, which means helping to keep your vet bills down.

We have had open surgeries at a previous practice in Bristol and they worked well. Clients often waited less than if we had had appointments! The busiest days are likely to be Monday and Friday. So if you have a choice it can be best to come midweek.

Staff Advice

During our general opening hours listed above as well as collecting medicines you can call in or telephone for advice from our trained staff/Registered Veterinary Nurse.

Out of Hours Services

Working long days and then all night as well and then the following day can be very exhausting. Any person working such long hours would become very tired and prone to making mistakes so our out of hours service is provided by a dedicated veterinary out of hours service. Fresh vets start their working day at 6.30pm and come on duty also for part of the weekend. Our out of hours service is provided by the following:

CVETS   01872 560952

Cornwall Veterinary Emergency Treatment Service,
The Old Dairy,
Penstraze,
Truro,
TR4 8PN.

Before choosing CVets for our out of hours service we visited there ourselves. It is the place we would send our own pets if we were not available ourselves out of hours. Cvets send us their medical notes if they do see your pet out of hours, but in practice very few of our clients seem to go there as we try and do all your pet’s treatment during the day where ever possible. We visit CVets every Month and have always found their service to be very good.

If your pet is ever unwell please come in at the earliest opportunity during the day so we have time to treat your pet. If pets are treated early they usually recover quicker and the cost of treatment is usually much lower.
